The Importance of Weight Training

What you’re going to find on this website are some really unconventional ways of thinking about human fitness.  These are new things to the fitness industry, just unconventional when talking about mainstream America and media.

What you can do with two sets of dumbbells is absolutely all (if not more) than you’ll ever need in your journey to healthier and more fit version of yourself.

The Bowflex SelectTech 552 Adjustable Dumbbells (Pair) have been a staple in my basement for quite some time.

These come with quite a hefty sticker price for the novice or beginner weight trainer.  Any set of lightweight bands will also work.  No question there are groups of exercises out there that require no weights at all.  Simply using the weight of the human body, coupled along with some muscle building moves can help shape you up in no time flat.  Honestly!!

What I want to touch on most in today’s informational fitness piece is the value behind a quality exercise regimen and routine.  Science has told us that the days of spending 1-2 hours in the gym or 45 minutes on the treadmill are not only a waste of time but counterproductive.

I’m not going to delve a whole lot into cardio at this juncture because i want to focus on weight training.  The cardio post is coming, trust me 🙂

Weight training is something most women have shied away from their entire lives.  They say they don;t want to look all manly and gross like those body building women on tv and in the magazines.

The problem is ladies, you couldn’t look like that if you tried!  The women you see with giant biceps are taking hormone supplementation to increase their free testosterone.  These women are carry around more manpower than most men in their early 20 are.  It’s not only unhealthy, it’s obscene.

The benefits of weight training for women and men have been shown in studies for years now.  I know ladies that lift heavy in the gym and boy do they look great!

If toned arms, arms and legs is what you’re looking for then weight training is certainly for you.  Weight training will make you look fitter and I promise all of those videos that guarantee you’ll be lean and sleek just by doing a few simple moves can be achieved much more efficiently through weight training.

Many women feel intimidated by the free weights in most gyms.  That’s why I’ve always been a big proponent of a home gym atmosphere.  It’s what I prefer for myself.  But if this isn’t an option for you, don’t be shy.  Get in there with the guys!!

In future posts I will be explaining all of the associated benefits of weight training.  Weight loss, healthy weight maintenance, improved flexibility, strengthened muscles and joints are just the tips of the weight training icebergs.
