There are so many philosophies out there on what’s good for the body and what isn’t. We all now pretty much know that processed foods aren’t in our body’s best interest. The negative affects that processed grains have on our insulin levels can lead to a plethora of health problems over time.
Some “diets” claim that red meats are unhealthy while others proclaim the exact opposite. I can’t go into detail of every philosophy but what i do want to touch on here is “diet” is not sprint. Diet isn’t a short term fix for a long standing problem. A crash diet usually ends in a crash landing when all is said and done.
These type of diets are good for getting weight off quickly but obviously they aren’t sustainable lifestyles. You can’t live on a juicing plan. Your body can’t function on a highly calorie restrictive plan for very long. Yes you’ll lose weight but as soon as you meander from the “plan” your body will immediately begin to store water and body fat again.
This brings me to my main point. Dieting isn’t the same thing as your diet. You need to incorporate a healthy DIET that is sustainable and attainable. This is a marathon. Not a sprint and you need quality foods that will help you maintain a healthy balance of nutrients, vitamins and minerals.
I follow a little bit of an unconventional “diet” when compared to the government generated food pyramid. From years of reading many medical based publications, I believe the food pyramid is the biggest scam in the history of our country. Why I believe that is for a mother day or time. What I believe is that we should be consuming foods that God has given us. Whoever or whatever your God is is irrelevant.
The natural occurring foods on the earth are what our bodies are designed to ingest. Not something that is manufactured in a laboratory or a so called packaged food manufacturer.
Our bodies haven’t evolved long enough to be able to properly process the things we are currently eating in processed foods. A prime example of what I’m talking about can be seen in the Native American population.
Native Americans were’t introduced to alcohol until the Europeans came over a few centuries ago. Europeans have been consuming alcohol for centuries. Eons compared to the time Native Americans have been. A person of European decent can drink far more servings of alcohol without becoming inebriated compared to a Native American. Native Americans become intoxicated very easily simply because their bodies haven’t evolved enough to be able to process alcohol. In contrast, a person of European decent can drink far more servings of liquor without the intoxicating effects that a Native American experiences.
The best foods to consume and to avoid vary from person to person and their ancestral background. We come from different places with different decent. Having a DNA background profile can give you a better idea of the foods your body best tolerates and should give some insight as to the ones you should adamantly avoid.
